Linux Printing

  • All of the managed Linux machines on our network will already have access to our networked printers though our CUPS print server.

  • For Linux basic printing there are two equivalent standard commands:

    1. lp -d PRINTERNAME FILENAME

    2. lpr -P PRINTERNAME FILENAME

  • For linux duplex printing there are also two standard methods:

    1. lp -d PRINTERNAME -o sides=two-sided-long-edge FILENAME

    2. lpr -P PRINTERNAME -o sides=two-sided-long-edge FILENAME

  • For additional Linux command line printing options please see the man pages for either 'lp' or 'lpr'.
